Irresistible Nails

Snap, Crackle, Pop…nope we are not talking about Rice Krispy Cereal. The latest and greatest nail fashion is crackle polish. There are many brands, but I am a big fan of China Glaze Polishes.  China Glaze Crackle Polish display

So I was super excited when China Glaze came out with their version of the Crackle polish. The polish come in an array of colors. I initial purchased the purple, white, and black. Love love love the polish when I first purchased them.

Black Crackle Polish

China Glaze Black Crackle Polish over green polish

I would offer the polish to all my clients. This polish would give the nail a design/nail art look without all the extra work. Very pretty on the nails; however, after awhile the polish becomes thick & chunky. It would go on to thick & not crackle like it should.

I am not sure what causes this but the polish is excellent when you first purchase. You will have to be very careful not to allow air to get into the polish.

Overall the clients love it, I love it…except for the thickening part. So I will give this polish review 3 nail polish bottles due to the thickening effect.

Have you tried China Glaze Crackle Polish? What do you think? Leave a comment below.

Thanks,

Nail enhancements are important fashion accessories. For many many years, ladies was only offered the choice of getting acrylic nails; however, today, ladies can get gel nails as well.

I have received several questions regarding which is safer: acrylics or gels? Well first thing first, damage is not caused by the product or the tool, but the lack of knowledge from the nail tech.

With that said, here are a few comparisons between acrylics & gels:

Acrylics do NOT thin out the natural nail, but overfiling the natural nail DOES.

Acrylics do NOT damage the natural nail, but picking/pulling/peeling them off DOES.

Acrylics do NOT (or in this case I should say RARELY) cause allergic reactions or other health problems, UNLESS the tech applying them does so incorrectly, overexposing the skin and nails to uncured product.

Gel applied to thick will cause a burning sensation to the nail plate, and can cause DAMAGE to that nail plate.

ALSO, if you peel a gel nail off, you will damage your nail plate in the same manner as if you peeled off an acrylic nail.

Acrylic is just as good as gel & gel is just as good as acrylic. It’s all about getting it applied properly in the salon, and taking care of it properly at home. You must invest in taking care of your hands and feet. You must do some work at home and follow the recommendations from your nail tech/stylist.

Ladies, we have all walked into a salon and was like Woooooo….

Your first thoughts was should this place be open or the place looked very nice and clean. Either way, there are some things we need to keep in mind when we go for our nail services.

Watch for any of the following in a salon:
• Salon that does not look clean in general, with any hair or nail clippings, dust or debris on the floor, drawers, tables, or other furniture.
• Salon is using dusty or dirty nail files, buffers, combs, clippers, and other tools.
• Salon is using products from unlabeled or unmarked containers.
• Salon stores tools in a dirty drawer or container.
• Restrooms are dirty or unkempt, lack liquid soap and clean towels/paper towels.

Be wary of salon service providers who:
• Will not show you a current license when you ask to see it. #1 indicator you need to leave that salon & stylist
• Do not ask you to wash your hands or wash your feet before performing any nail or pedicure service.
• Do not wash their own hands before performing a nail or pedicure service.
• Provide services that are painful or damages your skin or nails.
• Cannot explain how they clean and disinfect their nail files, clippers, bits, and tools when asked.
• Cannot explain how they clean and disinfect foot spas when asked.
• Use an implement or other object to forcibly remove or “pry off” artificial nails.
• Do not provide each client with a clean and disinfected nailbrush for scrubbing underneath nails.
• Do not use a clean, freshly laundered or disposable towel after each client.
• Stick their fingers directly into jars or containers.
• Does not disinfect and sanitize clippers after every service….

As Andy Wise would say, please know the score before going in the door! LOL Salons are inspected and receive a rating…Take the time to read the score card to educate yourself on how your preferred salon is rated by State board & the Health Department, if required…..

Ladies, the season is changing & it is changing to more warm beautiful weather. We all know we like to show our bodies, including our feet, when the weather is nice and warm out; however, there are a few things we must do before we can start wearing sandals.

Open Toe Shoe Pledge

As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free. I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

I won’t wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

If a strap breaks, I won’t duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl’s if my feet need him.

I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids’ sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.

I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.

I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they are actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

I will promise to go to my local nail salon at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $35 and worth EVERY penny).

I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear… nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

Ladies if you have taken this pledge, please sign your name in the comment section.

By signing this pledge, you are acknowledging that you will abide by all the guidelines set forth above, and will abruptly let a woman know if she is in violation. Let’s keep this Summer crusty feet free!! Not only will the fellas appreciate it, but those of us that do take care of our feet will too.

**LADIES SPREAD THE WORD..TELL YOUR GIRLS TO SIGN THE PLEDGE**

**FELLAS PASS THIS ALONG TO YOUR LADY FRIENDS TOO**

If you are need of some TLC, please make your appointment ASAP with your nearest nail salon. For those in Memphis, TN, Salon de Sol is a great place to get pedicures. Make your appointments at http://www.styleseat.com/pknails .

Ladies, don’t put this off another second, call and make those much needed appointments.

It’s prom & graduation season in Memphis. Dresses are being bought, limousines are being rented, & hair & nail appointments are being made. This year the big trend in nail fashion is the No Chip Manicures.

What is No Chip Manicure?

No Chip Manicure is a regular manicure with a slight twist-gel polish is used instead of regular polish. Gel polish is a hybrid of regular polish & gel. This combo produces long lasting polish wear on natural nails & acrylic nails. The gel polish can last up to 14 days.

Is it safe to wear?

Yes! The No Chip Manicures follow the same procedures as regular manicures. At the step to apply polish, the gel polish is used.

The gel polish is applied to the nails & cured under a UV light.

There is No harsh abrasives used on the nails. There is no drying time & you are able to go in your purse immediately after receiving the service with no polish smudging.

Colors

No Chip Manicures gel polish comes in an array of colors. Professional nail stylists have several companies to choose from that sell gel polish & this availability provides you with an unlimited choice of colors.

Nail art, glitters, & other nail art embellishments can be used with gel polish.

Where to get No Chip Manicures

This service is offered by licensed nail professionals. Memphis has several salons that offer this service. The cost varies per salon but can range from $25-$60. Salon de Sol (http://www.styleseat.com/pknails), in the Soulsville area, offers the No Chip Manicure service.

What a great simple but lasting option for the summer.
